In June we welcomed to our team Amy (she/her), our new Operations and Account Manager. Here are some questions she answered for us to introduce herself!
What's your role at Dignity?
Operations and Account Manager.
What's your favourite part of your job?
Being part of a team who are dedicated to and passionate about the work they do.
What does Dignity mean to you?
To me Dignity means feeling empowered to live a full and expressive life.
Why do you think businesses should have Dignity at their workplace?
Providing period products in the workplace is a big part of normalising menstrual cycles. It allows staff to feel supported and seen and removes some of the hassle that can be associated with periods.
How can we make periods more normal?
Encouraging conversation about periods and acknowledging and celebrating the uniqueness of individuals' experiences. Education and acknowledgement around the different phases of the menstrual cycle and the associated differences in physical, mental and emotional states a person may experience (including both the negative and positive impacts of these states).
What do you do outside of Dignity?
I'm often out walking by the ocean and amongst the trees, and swimming in the ocean too (when it's not so cold!). I also practice yoga and dance, and enjoy reading and crafts.
Who do you admire?
Two teachers of mine, Mei Lai Swan and Uma Spender. They are both very skilled space holders and dedicated change-makers.
What is a quote you live by?
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Viktor Frankl
What piece of advice would you give to yourself 5 years ago?
Never underestimate the importance of rest.
